Post Root Canal Treatment Instructions

  • Avoid chewing until the numbness wears off (effect of anesthesia) - Please don’t eat or chew anything until the effect of anesthesia is completely gone and you start feeling normal. This helps you avoid accidentally biting your cheek, tongue, or lips.
  • Mild pain or sensitivity is normal - You may feel some soreness or mild pain in the treated tooth or surrounding area for a few days. This is normal and will gradually reduce.
  • Take medicines as prescribed - Please take your painkillers and antibiotics (if given) exactly as prescribed. Do not skip doses, even if you start feeling better.
  • Avoid chewing on that side - Try not to chew or bite hard food from the treated side until the final cap (crown) is placed. The tooth can be weaker and may crack or break without protection.
  • Oral hygiene is important - Keep brushing and flossing gently as usual, but avoid putting too much pressure near the treated tooth for the first few days.
  • If your bite feels high or uncomfortable - Sometimes after RCT, the bite may feel slightly off. If you feel like you're biting more on that tooth or it's uncomfortable while chewing, please let us know—we’ll adjust it.
  • Contact us if anything unusual happens - If you feel severe pain, swelling, fever, or if something doesn’t feel right, please call us. We’re here to help.
  • Do not skip the final crown, if you are advised – Structure loss due to caries , after RCT, the tooth becomes brittle over time. A crown (cap) is very important to protect it from cracking or breaking, especially your molar tooth. Don’t delay this step.
