- Don’t rinse or spit after dental implant surgery for 24 hours to stop bleeding. Swallow saliva.
- After dental implant surgery, avoid eating anything until the anesthesia wears off (about two to two and a half hours). You can take soft or liquid diet after 2 hour of surgery like (dal rice, khichadi, plain ice-cream, banana). Start eating semisoft foods when you can tolerate them.
- Avoid chewing directly on the implant site for the first few weeks.
- Avoid hot or hard food for 24 hours
- Don't brush your teeth, rinse your mouth, spit or use mouthwash during the first 24 hours after surgery. You can resume brushing your teeth after the first 24 hours. Be gentle particularly near the surgical site when brushing and gently rinse your mouth with warm salt water every two hours and after meals for a week.
- Avoid putting pressure on the sinus area if you had a sinus lift procedure.
- You may be feeling some pain or discomfort, for those medicines will be prescribed to manage pain after procedure.
- Use an ice pack over face for first day only. So that the swelling is reduced. Any swelling of your cheeks usually improves in two or three days.
- After implant surgery, plan to avoid too much speaking for the remainder of the day. Try to avoid speaking too much. Resume normal activities the next day.
- Don’t use tobacco product or alcohol after implant surgery. Using tobacco products after oral surgery can delay healing and increase the risk of complications.
- Do not use a straw to drink liquids for two days. Avoid drinking carbonated cold drinks.
- Don’t worry if there is oozing of blood or blood-tinged saliva for first 24 hours, it’s normal. If there is profuse bleeding contact dental clinic.
- You may have stitches that need to be removed on7th day from procedure.
