If your dental bridge falls out, keep the bridge safely and contact your dentist promptly.
Do not discard the bridge. Depending on its condition and the health of the supporting teeth, it may sometimes be possible to re-cement it.
Until you see your dentist:
- Keep the bridge clean.
- Store it safely in a clean container.
- Avoid chewing on the affected side.
- Do not use household glue or adhesive to reattach it.
- Avoid putting excessive pressure on the exposed supporting teeth.
Your dentist will examine the bridge and the supporting teeth to determine why it came out.
Possible causes include cement failure, tooth decay, fracture of a supporting tooth, excessive biting forces, gum disease, or damage to the bridge.
The appropriate treatment may be re-cementation, repair, treatment of the supporting tooth, or fabrication of a new bridge.
